Patrick McCarthy has been in commercial banking, equipment leasing or mortgage ending for nearly 30 years, with the last 24 years exclusively in commercial banking.
Starting at a small community bank in the San Francisco Bay area, Patrick moved on to a seventeen year trek with a niche bank, Silicon Valley Bank, focused on technology, life science and venture capital. He served two years as the Bank’s software senior credit officer in Santa Clara, CA with later roles in a team leader position and regional asset-based lending slot in the bank’s Seattle, WA regional office. After a short stint
starting in 2010 with Umpqua Bank in Humboldt County, CA, he moved to Portland in November 2011 with his current employer, Bank of the Cascades, to take the opportunity to execute a niche plan, focused on the Northwest’s craft brewing industry.
The product of public education, Patrick received his undergrad degree in Business Administration from Mankato State University (Minnesota) in his home town. He subsequently completed his MBA at San Jose State after moving to the Silicon Valley in 1978 to develop a career path and explore California.
Patrick is the proud father of two grown children, one of whom just graduated from college and the other is entering her senior year.
As a newer resident of Portland, Patrick is embracing a new environment, establishing new relationships with the wonderful people of this city, squeezing in time to working at home on remodeling projects and find his way to the gym. With the right weather and opportunity Patrick loves to occasionally get out for long weekend rides on his Triumph.
